Formula 1 | Steiner after the hearing: "I expressed my disappointment, I didn't want to offend anyone"

Last Saturday during the weekend of Spanish Grand Prix, Guenther Steiner, Haas team principal was summoned by the FIA for alleged misconduct on Thursday, when the South Tyrolean expressed his disappointment with the decisions taken by the race commissioners during the Monaco Grand Prix. The number one of the US team was particularly direct and evidently angry about what happened, and the tone in which he said certain things did not seem to please the Federation. On Sunday, shortly before the Montmelò match, Guenther himself declared the following.

“On Saturday 3 June I participated in a hearing regarding comments made by me during the press conference on Thursday 1 June – we read in Steiner's note. I expressed to the stewards my disappointment and disagreement with the decision taken by their colleagues in Monaco last week. The stewards informed me that they had no problem with me for what I had said, but for the interpretation that had been given to some of my comments. I explained that I had no intention of offending anyone and that the use of certain words could be subject to misunderstanding by some people. I told them I would apologize if my statements were misconstrued or caused anyone harm because that was not my intention. I therefore reiterate my apologies in this space."
