Formula 1 | Sainz on his first season at Ferrari: “Probative, but satisfying”

Interviewed by the press on the sidelines of the last Russian Grand Prix, 15th round of the 2021 Formula 1 world championship, Carlos Sainz spoke about the first season with the colors of Ferrari, underlining how the results obtained, at least until today, have been in in line with expectations at the start of the championship.

Despite a difficult adaptation and a car that was not yet performing in terms of a title, the Iberian from the Rossa managed to achieve many good results and three podiums, earning the trust of the team and the Prancing Horse fans. The objective, now, will be to continue on this path, so as to best prepare for 2022 which will inevitably have to see the Red team as protagonist together with Red Bull, Mercedes and McLaren.

“It was quite a challenging season with the change of team and adaptation to a completely new car,” said the Iberian from Ferrari. “The three podiums achieved to date, however, I don't consider them to be a bad result at all, on the contrary. In Sochi I think I ended my best weekend since I raced for this team. I managed to put together a very strong qualifying lap, a good start and finally excellent tire management. I hope to continue on this path, perhaps even improving my performances."
