Present at the presentation ceremony of the new RS19, Alain Prost said he was extremely optimistic about the Renault team's possibilities for 2019, underlining how the data found by the team in the wind tunnel and on the test benches are very promising.
In fact, thanks to the investments made over the last year and a half, the French team has raised the bar as regards the development of activities related to power units and aerodynamics, with the aim of approaching the performances of Mercedes and Ferrari.
Clearly there is still a lot of work to do before definitively reaching the top of the rankings, but the Frenchman is certain that the path taken in terms of development is the right one.
Here are the words of Alain Prost: “I don't know by how much, but we will be able to reduce the gap with the top three teams.”
On the potential of the RS19 he added: “It all looks very promising, but I don't think it will be enough to beat Mercedes and Ferrari. As regards Red Bull and Honda, however, I would say that for me they are a big question mark."
