"He is a rider I respect for his determination and talent," said the four-time world champion
Also to Mexico City there was no history, with Max Verstappen who achieved victory on the trackRodriguez Brothers. For the Dutchman from Red Bull it was the sixteenth triumph of the season, in a championship in which he is the absolute protagonist, and victory number 51 of his career. A success that allowed the three-time world champion to equal a legend like Alain Prost. Now, having hooked up to the Professor, only Sebastian Vettel, Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton are ahead of Max in terms of number of victories.
Discussing Verstappen's victory, Prost praised his talent by announcing that he will be present in the final act of the season - scheduled for the end of November at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi - to congratulate the Dutchman.
“Only five drivers can boast this number of victories. Five in the entire history of F1. I'm not ashamed to say that I'm proud to be part of it – admitted Prost in the columns of L'Équipe – I will go to Abu Dhabi and I will definitely congratulate him there. I will tell him that he has joined a very exclusive club and that this in itself is an achievement. I will also tell him that he is a rider that I respect for his determination and talent. And finally, that I am neither jealous nor sad when I am beaten by a rider of his caliber."
Prost then added: “Max is still developing and that's equally wonderful. My story is over, but it was beautiful and now Max's story is just as beautiful in his own way."
