Formula 1 | James Allison renews with Mercedes

La Mercedes has just announced the extension of the contract of James Allison, technical director of the Brackley team. This is a long-term renewal, considering the important regulatory changes that will arrive in 2026. He joined the Anglo/German team in 2017 after the period in Ferrari, he has been at the center of numerous successes, most notably four consecutive drivers' and five constructors' titles. After a period in which he was more secluded, having followed the INEOS Britannia project in the America's Cup, he resumed his role in April replacing Mike Elliot, evidently considered a flop after the many problems Mercedes had in the last two years Formula 1 with ground effect cars.

“Formula 1 has brought me a lot of luck – Allison commented. However, nothing can replace that call from Toto in 2017 to join Mercedes. It's a great privilege to continue this adventure, I work alongside brilliant colleagues, we fight together to win the championship."

“I'm pleased that James has tied his long-term future with us – said Toto Wolff, team principal and CEO of Mercedes. He is the technical leader par excellence in our sport, he has an incredible spirit, combined with his knowledge, experience and determination, he is second to none. However, his influence and impact go far beyond that: since he arrived in 2017 he has been a key ally and sparring partner for me. We can deal with each other openly and honestly, he has tough team love, and that is vital to helping us be our best. The most important thing, however, is that he is a true friend on whom you can count, not only in the best moments, but also in the difficult ones. It has been a pleasure working with him over the last seven years and we will do so for a long time to come."
