The new anti-Covid-19 protocols will also concern route marshals

Formula 1 | Marshalls will also have to respect social distancing

The 2020 World Cup formula 1 is about to leave again. All anti protocols Covid-19 must be respected in the paddock to guarantee total safety of the event and of the personnel present on the track. Speaking of this, also the route marshals, i Marshall, they will have to respect new procedures and maintain social distancing. Reached by Autosport, Luca De Angelis, an engineer in support of the LED panels that are mounted on the tracks, took care of explaining how the marshals should behave on the various tracks of the world championship, which so far, we remember, has only confirmed eight events.

“It's already a challenge, but this year will be even more challenging – said De Angelis. Starting with masks, gloves and all the necessary sanitization, avoiding direct contact with people. Usually the marshalls are always found together inside the station dedicated to them. In Austria there will be 15-16 sectors, so there will be as many marshalls who will control the LED panels. We need to make sure that this person is able to stay in a place away from other colleagues and people who work around the track, in a safe and comfortable place to be aware of everything that happens in their area. These marshalls will be positioned at a maximum distance of 400-500 meters from the LED panels. The panels can be operated away from protective barriers, so they can stay in quiet areas to maintain social distancing. In this case it will be very useful to have this type of system, because we can prevent any social interaction between the commissioners. It's a bit sad to say, because it means people don't have to socialise, but it's for their own good so they can still be able to provide the service as usual."
