Formula 1 | Alonso, all-in on Monte Carlo: "It's important to find the right set-up immediately"

Formula 1 GP Monaco Aston Martin – All-in for Fernando Alonso in view of the next Monaco Grand Prix, the sixth round of the 2023 Formula 1 world championship. Aware of the strength shown by the AMR23 in this first part of the season, the Spaniard wants to exploit the characteristics of the Monte Carlo Stradale to chasing a victory that has been missing since the distant 2013 season (Spanish GP in Barcelona). A difficult objective, certainly, but one that can become possible thanks to the excellent work done by the team in this first part of the season. Great opportunity also for Lance Stroll, who has not yet managed to make the most of the potential of this year's excellent technical package.

“For me, Monaco is a bit like a home race, the journey to the track is short! It's nice to be back racing after the cancellation of last weekend's Grand Prix, but we hope that everyone is safe in Italy and that in the end this was the right decision. Monaco is a race that we Formula 1 drivers always look forward to: it's a thrill to race on these roads, there's nothing like it. We are curious to see how the car behaves on a low-speed circuit like this. It will be important to make sure you get the car set-up right and get into the rhythm straight away. As overtaking is very difficult in Monaco, grid position will also be crucial to Sunday's result. If we can have a good qualifying, we will get another good result this weekend."

Here are Stroll's impressions: “We can't wait to get back to racing, but I know that the team's thoughts continue to be aimed at the people affected in Emilia-Romagna. Imola is a track we love racing on, but the safety of everyone involved must always come first and we recognize that the correct decision was made. The Monaco Grand Prix is truly special, nothing else can compare. It requires maximum concentration and commitment: on one lap it pushes you more than any other track on the calendar. There are no long straights, just narrow, twisty roads, so there's no time to think. You just have to trust your intuition. It's a real privilege to race on a track with so much history."
