Ferrari: 49 laps for Pedro de la Rosa at Silverstone

First day of testing at Silverstone for Scuderia Ferrari and the other teams involved in the Formula 1 World Championship. Today was dedicated to testing the 2015 Pirelli tires and the Scuderia used it above all to seek maximum correlation between the simulator and the actual F14 T. For this reason, Pedro de la Rosa was behind the wheel, the test driver who, together with Andrea Bertolini and Davide Rigon, carried out the development of the car on the simulator. The Spaniard completed a total of 49 laps, obtaining a best result of 1'37”988, however done with a lot of fuel on board. The team had to finish the work early due to a water leak from the car's refrigeration system which required further investigation of the problem resulting in the suspension of track activity.

For Pedro it was his debut with the F14 T: “I'm very happy to be able to get back in the car, in fact no simulator can replace a car that actually runs on the track. It was nice to have to deal with the stresses of the circuit, I miss the track, I miss being able to train in race conditions. Having said that, we are very satisfied with the correlation we found between the car and the simulator and this is very important in a Formula 1 that continues to reduce testing and forces everyone to do virtual development. We should perhaps rethink this, for the test drivers, who drive too little, for the young people but also for the entire Formula 1."

Pedro had a special collaborator today, Fernando Alonso, who lapped in the Maranello simulator in a reversal of roles compared to what happens on race weekends: “Fernando is a great professional, we know that, but he did a bit to me 'It was impressive to know that there was a world champion working for me while I was filming at Sliverstone.' The best time of the day was achieved by Felipe Massa with Williams in 1'35”242. Tomorrow Jules Bianchi will be on the F14 T.
