F1 | Williams, Albon: “Surprised to see everyone on intermediates in Q2”

Big hit at home Williams in qualification. Having nothing to lose, Alex Albon he was the only one, in Q2, to take to the track with dry tyres. The idea turns out to be a winning one, and the Thai closes the session with the fastest time. Several teams entered into crisis in Q2 and several big names were eliminated - how Perez o Leclerc. Albon thus rightfully earned a place in the top ten, even if he was only tenth at the finish line. Thanks to the penalty of Sainz gains a position, still remaining in the fifth row.

“I'm happy, we had a good pace. In Q1 we were sixth and I was comfortable. In Q2 we didn't need to take any risks with the slicks, but we tried. I was surprised when everyone took to the track on intermediates, but it was nice to be up front. Q3 was complicated, because suddenly the track got very wet and it was more difficult to bring the tires up to temperature – explained Albon – I struggled a bit, because I felt that the tires were cooling down on the straight, right where the rain he urged. I lost temperature and made a mistake in the last corner, I'm disappointed, but that's how it went. Mixed emotions, but I would say that qualifying went more than well, the team is working at its maximum."

Nineteenth time, however, for Logan Sargeant; the rookie also gains a position thanks to Tsunoda's penalty and will therefore start from the penultimate row.

“In FP3 I felt comfortable with the car, even on a completely wet track. As the asphalt got wet, I couldn't feel the rears, especially with the second set. The last attempt I think was decent, but not fast enough. I never felt the tires were in the right window, there was a lot of overheating and I couldn't find the grip. We'll see what happens tomorrow. We don't know what the weather will bring, but we will do our best."
