German believes Verstappen and Hamilton should 'see for themselves'

F1 | Vettel: “I won my titles without the help of a second driver”

Sebastian Vettel is not subtle. The German driver, winner of world titles from 2010 to 2013, proudly claims the absence in those years of any help from his then team mate Mark Webber, who was more of an internal adversary than anything else.

According to Vettel, in this final rush, Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen should face it alone, without hoping for help from their respective teammates. Obviously different situations because Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez have a completely subordinate role to that of their respective captains, while in Vettel's Red Bull Webber was allowed to compete with Seb, despite the difference in performance between the two.

“At Red Bull I never had the help of the second driver; Webber was also often involved in the championship fight and so I don't know what it means to have a second guide working for you - Sebastian's words reported by GPFans.com – Mark and I have always been very close in terms of points and therefore the question of first and second driving was not clear. But in general I'm not a big fan of second guides, I believe that everyone should race for themselves and for their goals. I'm glad I didn't have any help from Webber, but not because he has anything against Mark; I'm proud to have managed to win on my own without anyone's help."
