F1 | Vettel: “Tiring day but I'm not worried”

Third place in Monza for the German, behind the two Mercedes

F1 | Vettel: “Tiring day but I'm not worried”

In the home match for the Ferrari, Sebastian Vettel took home the third step of the podium but lost the championship leadership to Hamilton, who is now ahead by three points. In the Temple of speed the silver missiles appeared elusive, but the German does not intend to be discouraged and is looking to the next races. Here are his statements at the end of the day.

“To be honest I'm still overwhelmed by the ride home and the awards ceremony. I think it was fantastic; the strength of the fans, seeing so many people here for Ferrari… simply incredible! Yes, it was a tiring day, with a tiring start. I couldn't feel the car on the straight and I couldn't keep up with Kimi and Valtteri, so I had to wait to make progress. Then my race was mostly isolated. We tried to keep as close as possible but we just didn't have the pace. I'm sure there are a lot of reasons, but I don't want to get too technical now. In the last 20 laps I struggled. I went out into Turn 1 and I think something broke. The left side of the steering wheel was a little crooked and I couldn't trust the car, especially when braking, and this aspect matters a lot here. Overall you could say it wasn't a good day but I know the team is on the right path and there are a lot of things that will improve. Seeing where we've come is amazing, but I know we can only go further. So my mood is very positive, despite the numbers and all this. I'm not worried... the weekend was difficult but the road ahead of us is still long."
