F1 | Verstappen praises Hamilton this time: "He's one of the best ever"

Max Verstappen has repeatedly caused controversy for his scathing judgment on Lewis Hamilton's multiple victories with Mercedes. The Dutch driver, without ever disrespecting Lewis, however underlined on several occasions how in his opinion much of Hamilton's success depended on the extraordinary competitiveness of the Brackley car “with which 90% of the drivers would win like Lewis”.

The almost "irreverent" thought, in line with his outspoken character, was however softened by Max himself, who in an interview with the Dutch broadcaster Ziggo Sport corrected his criticism of Hamilton, speaking of the Englishman as "one of the best drivers ever” and adding that he has a good relationship with him.

Hamilton is certainly one of the best ever. It's true, many would be able to win with Mercedes but this does not take anything away from his skill – he cut short Verstappen who then used the Turkish GP as an example, a race in which he himself made more than one mistake - The Turkish GP is the perfect example of what I'm saying, it was a complicated, chaotic race, but in the end Lewis won it, staying on the track and without making any mistakes. If you see where Bottas was with the same car, you understand the difference between a champion and a good driver."

Verstappen then spoke about his personal relationship with the seven-time world champion:

"There is a lot of respect between us, and I'm sure it will grow over the years. It's also quite normal for it to take a while when you're dealing with a 1-year-old, but things have changed quickly. Lewis is very kind to me. We live our lives outside of FXNUMX, but when we sit together we get along very well and we even know how to joke".
