F1 Test | McLaren, Sainz: “The team made me feel at home”

The Spanish driver, in his first test with the English team, completed 150 laps, finishing the day with the fifth fastest time overall.

“Coming out of the garage behind the wheel of the McLaren is a dream come true. When I finally completed my first run I felt good and I have to say it was a very easy day. The team immediately made me feel at home, I did many laps and I am grateful to the team for giving me a reliable car that allows me to start a new chapter. I enjoyed all one hundred and fifty laps a lot, the feeling was good and we managed to end the season in the best possible way. As soon as I left the garage I felt comfortable in the car. Of course, there will always be details to improve and new things to adapt, such as the seat and driving style, but from the first ride I was able to spend time adjusting and getting to know all the new controls and procedures. It was great! It's been a busy few days, learning lots of names and understanding how the machine works. I'm looking forward to spending more time at the factory over the winter to get to know the team better and prepare as fully as possible for 2019.".
