F1 Test | A taste of 2019 in Abu Dhabi: the drivers' first kilometers with the new teams

The Pirelli tests held in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday 27 and Wednesday 28 November marked the debut of several riders in the new respective teams. In particular, the eyes of the fans were focused on Charles Leclerc, in his first outing as an official driver with Ferrari after the excellent season spent in Alfa Romeo Sauber: the opposite path was followed by Kimi Raikkonen who, after seventeen years, returned aboard the Swiss single-seater, alternating with his new teammate Antonio Giovinazzi, the only Italian exponent.

Meanwhile, Red Bull showcased the young Pierre Gasly for the first time, fresh from promotion from Toro Rosso, while the Force India era has officially begun for Lance Stroll. The seat left vacant in Williams by the Canadian was immediately occupied by Formula 2 champion George Russell, who performed together with Robert Kubica in the FW41.

Another important debut was that of Carlos Sainz in McLaren, which thus kicked off the post-Alonso era: after having participated in various free practice sessions during the year, Lando Norris, Stoffel's heir, was also seen again Vandoorne appointed by Woking leaders. Finally, Toro Rosso welcomed Daniil Kvyat back to Yas Marina after his troubled farewell about a year ago.

In short, a lot of irons in the fire waiting to obtain greater results in the first winter tests of 2019 and, above all, starting from the Australian Grand Prix, which will mark the start of what promises to be a new and exciting World Championship: the countdown has started.
