F1 | Sauber, Kaltenborn: “We have reduced the gap, but we have to work to get into the points”

Monisha Kaltenborn she is hopeful: she wants the team to improve more and more to overcome the Australian parenthesis and get into the points in the next GPs. The obvious shortcomings manifested by Clean last race weekend made people think of the worst: the team principal of the Swiss team, however, is confident, because she knows she has already reduced the gap from the teams in front and is confident in a leap in quality for the future of the championship.

La Race in Australia ended with the withdrawal of Ericsson and Antonio's 12th place Giovinazzi, Wehrlein's replacement, lapped twice by leader Sebastian Vettel: “I think the points are still possible,” Kaltenborn told Motorsport.com “We know this engine very well and we need to focus on our strong point which is the chassis. We will try to compensate as much as possible for the areas where we are lacking. We are aware that we will have to face some very difficult races, but there will be circuits where we can fight for the points.".

The future seems to be brighter for the Swiss team, because the Clean will fit a new aerodynamic package for the Grand Prix of Barcelona: “We will have some small components but we will evaluate their validity based on the results obtained in the wind tunnel. We have closed the gap to some of the teams ahead of us, but we need to continue working to make sure this gap closes further. Now we need to make sure we improve our qualifying performances and avoid race incidents like the one that occurred in Australia.", concluded Monisha Kaltenborn.
