F1 | Salo, backtrack on the Ferrari-FIA agreement: "My words were misunderstood"
"I am not aware of the details of the agreement between the FIA and Ferrari," admitted the former Ferrari driver
Mika Salo wanted to clarify his words, which caused a stir, on the agreement between Ferrari and the Federations regarding the power unit used by Maranello in the 2019 season.
In fact, in recent days the Finn, as well as the current FIA steward during the various race weekends, had hinted that the Red car had been punished and that it would have to use less fuel than the competition. Statements on which the former F1 driver backtracked.
"I don't know if they will have a new engine for 2021, but at least now Alfa Romeo will get all the power – declared Salo, quoted by the Finnish broadcaster MTV – He wasn't allowed last year because of Ferrari. What I said in an interview a couple of days ago was misunderstood. I would like to point out that I am not aware of the details of the agreement between the FIA and Ferrari. We only talked about what has already been in the media. It was a stupid joke and just a conversation between two people. All I can say is that I have no idea about the agreements. And even if I knew something, I wouldn't talk about it like this".
