F1 | Rio Haryanto, tests in Valencia for Formula E

La Formula E continues its preparations for the start of fourth season of his young life. This year the pre-season testing part takes place on the circuit of Ricardo Tormo of Valencia. The former Formula 1 driver Haryanto River he returned to the track driving a car after his farewell to racing in the 2016 German GP when he was an official driver for Manor: the Indonesian made two outings and tested the car on the first day of testing in Valencia.

Haryanto completed a 30-lap test on the Spanish track driving an updated version of the 01-2014 Spark SRT_2015E powered by a McLaren engine and a five-speed gearbox from Hewland. The question, however, is linked precisely to his future: the reason for his presence has not been confirmed, whether he will race for some team or whether he only participated for promotions. Alexander Agag, Founder & CEO of Formula E: “Haryanto is talented, he could be on the grid in the future.” Haryanto started off very excited: “I am very anxious for my first test in a Formula E, I have followed several races on television and I was impressed by the wheel-to-wheel battles,” Haryanto said on the web.

“I no longer competed in any category, but only did a bit of karting to keep myself trained,” he confessed to Autosport. “The championship is still spreading around the world and with the fans. They are completely different cars from those I was used to, in particular the approach to corners compared to Formula 1 is really different. It would be nice to see one race of Formula E on the streets of Jakarta one day and show the future of motorsport and cars in general."
