F1 | I renew Alonso with Aston Martin: "I will give everything to win the championship"

THEAston Martin has announced by surprise the renewal of Fernando Alonso, which binds with a multi-year contract to the Silverstone team. Riding the Verdona from the beginning of 2023, the two-time Spanish world champion will therefore certainly be in the team's project also in 2026, the first year of regulation with the new power units, and therefore with Sling, official supplier of Aston Martin since that season, recreating a less than idyllic combination, but by then almost ten years will have passed since that experience to be forgotten in McLaren. The Spaniard is happy to continue, thus making an important contribution to the drivers' market.

“Much has been said and written about my future in Formula 1 in recent months, but today I am pleased to announce that I am here to stay with Aston Martin Aramco on a multi-year deal – confirmed Fernando. At the beginning of the year I said that I would decide if I wanted to continue racing, after which I would discuss it with the team. From the moment I arrived in 2023, I immediately felt at home. In just over 15 months we have already achieved a lot together, with podiums and memorable battles. I am grateful for the trust that Lawrence, Martin and Mike have placed in me, and I am curious to see what Lance and I will be able to achieve together. This is just the beginning of the project and I'm proud to be part of it. Physically I feel great and I'm still hungry, I will give my all to allow the team to win the championship."
