F1 | Renault, Sainz on Montreal: "It's a different circuit from the others, similar to Melbourne"

The Monaco Grand Prix represented the fourth consecutive points-scoring event for Carlos Sainz Jr., a continuous progress after a not particularly simple start to the championship. In the principality the young Spanish driver managed to get through to Q3, repeating himself in the race with a good top ten finish, albeit behind his teammate, Nico Hulkenberg.

Before focusing on the next round in Canada, Sainz returned to talking about the Monaco Grand Prix, reflecting on having managed to enter the top for the fourth consecutive round: "I think it's positive that we were competitive and that we finished in the points in the last matches. It's important to continue like this, continuing to finish in the top ten. Now we have to build on this consistency and improve, climbing positions in the top ten."

Montreal is a difficult circuit from a technical point of view, which includes areas where the aerodynamic load dominates and others where it is necessary to have an unloaded set-up that allows you to enhance the maximum speed on the long straights, so it will be very likely see many teams adopt medium-low downforce wings, as seen in Azerbaijan. In the usual preview of the weekend, Sainz spoke of the difficulties that await the riders in Canada: “It is certainly a different circuit from many others, quite similar to Melbourne in a certain sense, as it is a mix between roads and a permanent circuit. The track is usually very dirty, there are often leaves on the track and even the wildlife occasionally gives us challenges during the weekend. I really like the section between turns four and turns seven. The walls are really close and you have to find the right rhythm to make the turns in the perfect way while making the most of the curbs. Last but not least, there is the “Wall of Champions” and the final chicane, another legendary corner” were Sainz's words. However, Canada is also one of the pilots' favorite events, given the atmosphere and tranquility of the place: “Montréal is one of my favorite cities to visit. There are many nice restaurants, especially some steakhouses, I really like it! The entrance to the Paddock in Montréal is unique, in that you have to walk on a wooden bridge over the lake. It's a really good weekend" concluded the Renault driver.
