F1 | Renault, Sainz: "I accidentally pressed a button on the steering wheel and lost two tenths"

Positive qualification for Renault at the United States Grand Prix. Hulkenberg will start in seventh position, while Sainz was very unlucky, being ousted from Q3 by just 2 thousandths. A real shame for the Spaniard, who will however have the advantage of starting with the tires he prefers. However, it is a positive sign after complicated weeks for Renault.

“I'm happy with the qualification – Hulkenberg said – we have expressed the full potential of the machine. To be honest, it was quite difficult because it was very windy and you can hear a lot in the car. The balance changes drastically from one corner to another, which made everything more complicated, it wasn't exactly the best, but it was like that for everyone. I pushed a lot and I think today went well."

“All in all, an encouraging result – Sainz said. It's good news to see that we're back in the mix. Unfortunately I missed the Q3 cutoff by two thousandths: I accidentally pressed a button on the steering wheel and only lost two tenths in the last corner. It's frustrating, because the top ten was within reach. The points will be scored tomorrow, so I'm staying positive. There are usually great races here because you can stay glued to the cars and there are lots of overtaking, so the ingredients for having an interesting day tomorrow are all there."
