F1 | Red Bull, Verstappen mocked by the yellow flag caused by Leclerc: "It cost me pole"

It was a bit of a mockery that Max Verstappen suffered in qualifying at Silverstone. The reigning world champion evidently had more than Ferrari, both Sainz and Leclerc, and in every lap he significantly lowered the times of the others without any particular problems. In Q3, however, the music changed a bit, and first an error at Stowe and then a final yellow flag caused by the Monegasque himself did not allow him to conquer a pole position which objectively already seemed safe.

“It was a good qualifying, I was at ease – Max admitted. The track was very slippery, my spin in Q3 was a new tire warming technique (laughs), but overall I think we did a good job and the car has great race pace. Q3 is sometimes a lottery, especially in the wet, so I wasn't able to improve on my last lap due to a yellow flag (caused by Leclerc, ed.), and this cost me pole position. The margins are very narrow, the Ferraris are very strong: tomorrow it will be a close battle, but we hope to finish ahead of them. The car is good in both wet and dry conditions, so if it can work well in the race we should have a good chance of winning."
