F1 | Red Bull, Perez is second: “We saved what we could save”

Suzuka - Sergio Perez gives the double to RedBull. The Mexican performs a textbook race, despite some small mistakes. The first stint on medium puts Czech in difficulty. but despite everything the Mexican maintains his position. With the hard ones RB20 seems to fly, but Perez finds himself in traffic: the road back to the podium is slow, but successful: Sergio crosses the finish line twelve seconds after his teammate. The feeling, as in recent weekends, is that the Red Bull driver cites reasons that prevented him from aiming for victory - the tires, the start - but the reality is that, at the moment, Perez is doing exactly what he needs to do to reconfirm himself in the team of Christian horner: follow Verstappen a short distance away, conquer podiums and points and secure the constructors' championship.

Perez: “We are competitive, but we must continue to improve”

“It was a good day for the team. The pace was good, we struggled initially with degradation, unable to make the most of the medium tires due to balance and temperatures. We suffered in the first stint, compromising our race, and then it happened Lando who entered the pits early – explained Checo – the second stint went better, but I had to make my way through the traffic, it wasn't easy. With the hard tires it was much easier, but by then everything was lost. Let's look on the positive side, we managed to save what could be saved during the promo stint, something we weren't able to do last year. We are competitive, but we must continue to improve. Confidence is also growing, I hope it is constant for the next races."
