Helmut Marko, in an interview given to the columns of La Gazzetta dello Sport, discussed various topics. Which also includes the future of Max Verstappen. The Austrian talent scout did not rule out a possible departure of the Dutchman, contractually linked to the Milton Keynes team until the end of 2020, if Red Bull fails to be competitive for great goals.
"We fear his departure? Obviously, but at the moment there is only one winning car and that is Mercedes." Marko pointed out.
Marko then, speaking about Mercedes, said: “They have such an advantage because of this stupid tire change. There are teams that struggle while one benefits. Now the lap to warm up the tires is more important than the qualifying one. If you don't reach the ideal temperature you're ruined. They requested to reduce the tread because they suffered from blistering. But this is how sport is ruined".
