F1 | Red Bull, Christian Horner: “Having two different strategies could be an advantage”
"Our mechanics were incredible" added the team principal
Christian Horner, in addition to being satisfied with his drivers, can also be satisfied with his team who repaired Verstappen's car in record time in Q2: the Dutchman took to the track in Q2 for his first attempt, but immediately reported, via radio, that he no longer had power. Once back in the pits, the team opened the bonnet and immediately repaired the electrical fault, allowing Max to do a lap and qualify for Q3. Verstappen will start from third position on medium tyre, next to him will be his former teammate Pierre Gasly, while Alex Albon had to deal with the sensors of the Imola circuit in Q3, but still managed to take sixth position .
"Max's third position was thanks to the incredible teamwork of our mechanics, who managed to repair the electrical fault on car number 33 in record time – commented team principal Christian Horner – Max managed to return to the track in time to set a fast lap in Q2, but this obviously had an effect on his preparation for Q3. I think we couldn't have done more today anyway and the medium tire opens up options for us for the race. As for Alex, who lost some of his time for exceeding the track limits, he had to make a perfect lap on his last attempt in Q3 and he did it, placing himself on the third row with the sixth fastest time. Alex will start tomorrow with a different compound from Max's, so we will have different strategies for the two cars, we hope this will be an advantage for us".
