F1 | Rai leaves Formula 1: in 2018 only on Sky

Rai renounces Formula 1, now it really seems like reality. After the numerous rumors of recent months, it would seem that state TV has chosen not to broadcast Formula 1 free-to-air and deferred to leave its monopoly to Sky and TV8. Due to the terrible ratings of Che Tempo Che Fai on Rai 1 and some other evening programmes, in fact, the Rai would have decided to bet everything on Winter Olympics in South Korea Champions League 2018 which will negotiate with Sky, leaving the honor of broadcasting all the Formula 1 races to pay-TV. This is the state today, even if Liberty Medium he wants to wait until mid-January to finalize the three-year agreements.

In fact, Formula 1, as reported by Motorsport.com, is about to say goodbye to state TV: there will be neither free-to-air GPs, concurrently with Sky, nor deferred GPs. Rai will no longer broadcast any motorsport races. In Saxa Rubra they decided to fill their schedule by cutting the funds needed to purchase the F1 television rights. With that money the objective is instead to negotiate with Sky for some UEFA Champions League matches and to have almost complete coverage of the Winter Olympics, which, ironically, due to the time zone, will be broadcast at times different from those in Europe and which therefore they will not bring who knows what interests from advertising investors.
