The fourth time set last Saturday by Charles Leclerc in qualifying at the Nürburgring surprised everyone a bit. In fact, the Monegasque, despite the technical shortcomings that afflict the SF1000, completed an extraordinary lap that took him up to the second row. Unfortunately it was thwarted in the race by the lack of competitiveness of the Red team, with the Cavallino standard-bearer having to settle for seventh final position.

Leclerc's performance did not escape the attention of Racing Point technical director Andrew Green, who was also amazed by the Monegasque's P4.

"I think there's definitely something to watch in the way other teams find their rhythm in qualifying on a Saturday afternoon which we don't have, I think a good example is Ferrari – admitted Green, interviewed by Race Fans – I don't know where they got that rhythm on Saturday afternoon. On Sunday I'm half a second behind, and it's very strange".
