F1 | Pedro de la Rosa: “Alonso world champion would be the worthy ending to an extraordinary career”

The green girl from Silverstone has in fact achieved two podiums in as many races, resulting in the first single-seater with Fernando Alonso behind the unapproachable Red Bulls. The English team, which has recently carried out a profound technical restructuring work where the hiring of Dan Fallows from Red Bull stands out, has designed an excellent car – the AMR23 – which has made an important leap in the rankings.

Discussing what we have seen so far on the track, Peter of the Rose he focused attention on his compatriot and friend Fernando Alonso who has already achieved some important satisfactions with Lawrence Stroll's team. For de la Rosa, a possible world title for Alonso would be the culmination of an important career which has most likely seen the two-time world champion achieve a lower number of successes than the talent shown.

“There are many world champions who lose their luster when they no longer have a competitive car – declared de la Rosa, interviewed by the official Aston Martin website – Fernando is not like that. He maintained his level and his motivation. For him to have achieved as many podiums in F1 as he has and still have the same hunger as when he started, despite not having had a competitive car for so many years, is something I admire very much."

The Spaniard, completing his analysis, then added: “It would be a dream come true to see Fernando crowned World Champion again. He deserves it. Whatever you do in life, if you give it your all, sooner or later you will be rewarded and Fernando has been giving his all for decades. When you consider the journey he has been on, everything he has done and everything he has been through, winning the World Championship again would be a fitting end to an extraordinary F1 career."
