F1 | Ocon stands out on the day of testing in Abu Dhabi

F1 Test Abu Dhabi – Esteban Ocon ended the day of post-season testing in the lead at the Yas Marina track in Abu Dhabi. During the afternoon, the Frenchman from Alpine managed to take the lead in the general time classification, obtaining a time of 1'24"393, around three tenths faster than Pato O'Ward's McLaren, who returned aboard the MCL60 after free practice on Friday morning.

Also back in the car for Frederick Vesti, who took to the track with the Mercedes W14: the Finn accumulated 106 laps between morning and afternoon, offering the team a lot of interesting feedback in terms of data collection. An unlucky day, however, for the other Mercedes driver, George Russell, who ended up in the barriers with just a few minutes left before the end of the morning session. As confirmed by the team, the Englishman suffered a suspension failure which caused the accident.

Fourth time for Sergio Perez, followed closely by Carlos Sainz, Fernando Alonso and Jack Doohan (Alpine), always fast and convincing aboard the A523. Completing the top ten list are Robert Shwartzman, Logan Sargeant and Charles Leclerc, who shared the second SF-23 with his teammate (the Monegasque toured in the afternoon, while the Spaniard dedicated himself to collecting data during the morning).

Once this day is over, a well-deserved break for drivers and teams in view of the winter full-immersion. The objective, in fact, will be to be ready for the pre-season tests which will take place between February and March in Bahrain.
