F1 | Mercedes, Wolff on Paul Ricard: "It's a track we've done well on in the past"

In the next world championship event, which will take place this weekend on the Paul Ricard track, home of the French Grand Prix, Mercedes is called to make a prompt recovery after the disappointing performances in Monte Carlo and Baku. On both occasions the Stella team missed the podium, losing ground in the Constructors' World Championship to Red Bull. In fact, Brackley is now 26 points behind Milton Keynes, while Lewis Hamilton is 4 points behind Max Verstappen.

"We come from two circuits that we knew would be difficult for us, we were disappointed to lose a podium and a victory due to our own mistakes – declared Wolff, in the preview of the French GP published on the Mercedes website – This frustration reflects the high standards we hold ourselves to and is what drives us forward. In Monaco and Baku we put the W12 in a window where only one of our drivers found the confidence to unlock the car's performance: Valtteri in Monaco and Lewis in Baku. In such a close and intense title fight, we need to deliver a car at every race that both our drivers can confidently push to the limit".

The Mercedes TP, completing his analysis, then added: “The French Grand Prix means returning to a more traditional circuit and hopefully better fortunes for us. It's a track we've done well at in the past and, with a wide range of cornering speeds that will test the car in every way, it's an interesting challenge to take on. We are six races into the season and there is still a long way to go. We will try to turn our knowledge from the last few weeks into performance and deliver a much stronger weekend with both cars".
