F1 | Mercedes, Lewis Hamilton is only seventh: "There will be internal discussions"

Complicated race for Lewis Hamilton who, at the checkered flag, did not gain any positions and retained his seventh place. It was a complicated weekend for Mercedes, which only managed to be competitive with the car of Valtteri Bottas, who was forced to retire due to a problem at the pit stop. The seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, on the other hand, never managed to impose himself on the Monte Carlo track, on the contrary: there were several set-up problems, which complicated things even more. The Mercedes driver complained about his car for much of the race, even losing two positions when changing tires to Sebastian Vettel and Sergio Perez. Weekend totally to forget for him, who also loses the leadership of the world championship: Max Verstappen, with the victory in Monte Carlo, is currently first in the drivers' championship with just four points ahead.

"Congratulations to Max and his team, they were the best today – Lewis began after his race – As for our team, it is through our defeats and mistakes that we grow and become stronger. This was definitely one of the worst weekends in terms of performance, but this team has shown time and time again that we will fight again. There is no finger to point, we win and lose together, we have to keep our feet on the ground. There are still eighteen races to go, the fight is still long.

"We will work hard because we want to make sure this doesn't happen again – continues the seven-time world champion – there is no reason why we should repeat these performances on any other weekend, with all the experience we have. There will be internal discussions, learning from certain mistakes is painful, but we have already done it in the past".
