F1 | Mercedes, Lauda: “We don't need Alonso”
"Ferrari? Broke their contract years ago. Difficult solution," he added

In an interview given to the newspaper AS, Niki Lauda denied Mercedes' possible interest in Fernando Alonso. According to what was declared by the Austrian Manager, the Stuttgart team would be extremely satisfied with the work of Valtteri Bottas (recent winner of the Austrian Grand Prix) and Lewis Hamilton, which is why they don't want to change their line-up at Brackley for the 2018 season.
Here are the words of Niki Lauda: “He broke his contract with Ferrari a few years ago and so I don't think this possibility really exists for Alonso. As for Mercedes, Hamilton and Bottas are doing an excellent job and we can already win with them. Why should we take Fernando? We don't need him at the moment."
