F1 | Mercedes, Bottas: “I know what I have to do to stay in 2019”
"The team will do well to consider all the options, but if I am competitive we will continue to move forward together"
Fresh from annual renewal, Valtteri Bottas it is already projecting itself into the future. The pilot of the Mercedes is not scared by possible competition in 2019 Max Verstappen (to which the interest of the Silver Arrows is no mystery): “I understand Mercedes' choice to consider all the options at its disposal” – declared the Finn on the eve of the Singapore weekend. “But I'm happy. For my part, I know what I have to do, as has always happened in my career. I'm not used to living different situations. As always, everything is in my hands. If I prove that I am competitive, there will be no problem and we can have a long future together".
To the Finnish broadcaster More, Bottas revealed that he had negotiated the contract with the Stuttgart team without the help of a manager: “This contract is even better than the previous one” – the former Williams also reiterated. Returning to current events, the Finnish driver recognized that he now has few world championship chances: "The gap from the first two is quite large. To keep my chances of becoming world champion alive, I need to improve before it's too late.".
