F1 | McLaren interested in joining IndyCar from 2019
Confirmation comes from Mark Miles: "Their intention is to become a full-time team"
McLaren wink atIndyCar. The English manufacturer is reportedly thinking of a full-time entry into the major American automobile championship for open-wheel cars. Obviously this is not a short-term project, but the foundations, and above all McLaren's will, seem not to be lacking. The statements released by Mark Miles, managing director of the company that controls IndyCar, to the Spanish newspaper El Mundo Deportivo, they travel in this direction: “We know there are options with the Andretti Motorsport team for a McLaren return to next year's Indy500.” – Miles begins. “But actually them they are interested in becoming a full-time team, maybe not next year but maybe from 2019. Zak Brown continues to ask us a lot of questions about our plans.".
Fernando Alonso, McLaren driver, just this year he took part with the Andretti Motorsport team in the 101st edition of the 500 Miles of Indianapolis, played last May 28th and ended with the victory of takuma sato and the Spaniard's withdrawal due to a technical failure.
