F1 | McLaren, dream qualifying for Sainz in Monza: "Great to be right behind the Mercedes"

A day to remember for Carlos Sainz, who qualified in third position in Monza, and will therefore start from the second row in the Italian Grand Prix tomorrow, behind only the two Mercedes. The Spaniard did everything perfectly, and the dream of going to the podium is not that unattainable, but he knows very well that tomorrow the start and the stretch that goes up to the Variante della Roggia will be crucial for the final result.

“I am very satisfied with third position – Sainz said. There was a great effort from everyone in the garage, it's a positive day for the whole team. We knew we had the right pace to fight in Q3, but to qualify in third place behind the two Mercedes in such a tight session is a great feeling. A good lap in Q1 allowed me to have two sets of new soft tires in Q3. I gave everything in my last attempt and managed to do a great lap to take third position. I am aware of the fact that the work is not finished yet, the points will be won tomorrow: I hope to have a clean race and capitalize on today's result."
