F1 | McLaren, Brown greets Ricciardo: “Daniel was a great addition to McLaren”

Today's afternoon opened with the announcement of the end of the professional relationship between McLaren and Daniel Ricciardo which will take place at the end of the current season.

The Australian and the Woking team are therefore preparing to conclude a difficult two-year period, where the former Red Bull and Renault driver was never able to make a difference at the wheel of the British single-seater, in which however the success achieved in Monza figures in 2021.

McLaren paid tribute to its driver, with whom it will share the next nine races, in the words of team principal Andreas Seidl and CEO Zak Brown.

"I would like to thank Daniel for his dedication and contribution he has made so far these last two seasons – Seidl declared – Despite shared challenges, he always showed up with a fighting spirit and positivity and helped the entire team to always keep moving forward. We will never forget that memorable race victory in Monza which was a great boost for the whole team. We still have an important battle in the Constructors' Championship ahead of us for the rest of the season and we are looking forward to tackling it with Daniel and Lando".

"Daniel was a great addition to McLaren and it was a pleasure to work with him – Brown said – I would like to thank him for all his efforts over the last two seasons both on the track and in the factory. It's no secret that we hoped we could achieve more together, but seeing him stand on the top step of the podium as a McLaren driver was a highlight. We wish him well for the future and let's go enjoy the rest of the season together".
