F1 | McLaren, Boullier: “We're under no illusions, but we've improved a lot”
Perhaps the fight with the leading teams is still too far away, but the challenge in the middle of the table will be interesting
La McLaren has unveiled its new one MCL33, the car with which he will face the 2018 Formula 1 season all in colour orange papaya and blue on the front and rear wings. Eric boullier, head of the team Woking, he is "proud" of the new vehicle designed by the British team. He believes that pure work, without shortcuts, will be rewarded in this championship: “I think the whole team is proud of this car, from the design, through to the engineering and aerodynamics – they've done an incredible job in such a short time,” Boullier told the presentation of the MCL33.
On the other hand, Boullier does not want to make the mistakes of the recent past and say he has a very competitive car when the work is not yet done. Although they feel they have done a good job and we have improved their performance, they maintain a humble head-down attitude especially in the fight with their opponents: "We have no illusions, because we know that it will be difficult to interrupt the hegemony of the first tier teams and that in any case the central tier teams are very interesting, since there are teams with experience and with many things to prove", warns the Frenchman.
“We are gripped by the challenge ahead of us, but we believe we are well prepared, that we have a solid package that we can continue to improve and develop throughout the season, we have two excellent drivers who will make the difference in the race. We are going to to compete of more difficult season than ever “, concluded Boullier.
In an almost unprecedented novelty in the history of the “filming days”, McLaren allowed a British television to be in Pit Lane at the time of the car's start and was able to speak to the team bosses in Woking: “We like that that we see, but we will wait for the premiere in Melbourne because we don't know yet, we have worked very hard and this is why we have many new details that make the car better", specified Boullier to Sky Sports F1.
