F1 | McLaren attacks: “Ferrari broke an agreement”
The controversy arose after the hiring of Mekies, a member of the FIA, in Maranello
Eric boullier it's a river in flood: according to the boss of the English team, in fact, the Italian team has broken an agreement according to which the teams are not allowed to hire a technical exponent of the FIA before a year.
Instead, the Ferrari in September it will be able to count on the collaboration of Laurent mekies, therefore in six months and not 12 as foreseen by the agreement:
“We are very sorry for the FIA who has lost another key element of its organization because he has moved to a team - commented Boullier - especially after the gentleman's agreement discussed by all the teams in a Strategy Group meeting was not respected: the agreement reached stipulated that no FIA technician would be hired by a team before one year after leaving the FIA".
“Ferrari went against this agreement and the FIA did not enforce it”.
Mekies will join the Ferrari technical team and report to the Scuderia's technical director, Mattia Binotto.
