F1 | Massa: “This year we will see fewer overtakings”

Big show in the new Formula 1 season? Not for Felipe Massa. The first days of testing have convinced the Brazilian that overtaking will be much more difficult than one would have thought at the beginning of the year.

These are the Williams driver's feelings after the last day of testing: “This is the new Formula 1. I was a second and a half faster than the Sauber but I couldn't overtake it. Behind me was Hulkenberg's Renault, which was faster than me but had no chance of overtaking."

Hence the final ruling for 2017: “I think this year we will see many fewer overtakings compared to recent seasons”.

However, Massa said he was happy with his performances and his high level of competitiveness Williams who pushed him to the front of the grid, but preached calm and patience: “The Mercedes is incredibly fast and I doubt we're on par. What I can say is that it was a very positive day and that the team seemed much happier than last week."
