F1 | Martin Brundle: “Ferrari must worry about Raikkonen's performance”

Among the negative notes of the Canadian Grand Prix, the seventh round of the 2018 Formula One World Championship, held on Sunday on the semi-permanent track in Montreal, is the name of Kimi Raikkonen.

In fact, the Ferrari Finn made a mistake in the last qualifying lap, which precluded him from obtaining an important placing, having to settle for fifth time. In the race, however, he came sixth, never managing to worry Lewis Hamilton, despite him using fresher tires than the Englishman from Mercedes.

Martin Brundle, former driver and currently commentator for Sky Sports UK, expressed his point of view on the 2007 world champion: "Ferrari must worry about Kimi's performance. I know he's one of the most famous drivers around, but after another mistake in qualifying on Sunday he finished almost 30 seconds behind his teammate.".

"In my opinion Kimi is at the end of the line – underlines Brundle -.  At times he is fast, but manages to be constant at the race pace required of him. For Ferrari it is very important to win the constructors' title. If they want to win against Red Bull and Mercedes they need a driver like Ricciardo or Leclerc alongside Vettel from next year".

Speaking about the young Leclerc, Brundle added: “He clearly has the mind to be in Formula One. Ferrari often doesn't take risks with young drivers, but there is also a changing of the guard between generations. In this case iThe field can be divided into three groups with drivers of the caliber of Fernando and Kimi on one side, Grosjean and Hulkenberg in the middle, and a group of youngsters on the other".
