F1 | Marko: “The Verstappen-Hamilton duel is more explosive than Rush”
"On the one hand there is a seven-time world champion, who leads a fairly media-focused life, and on the other there is Max who focuses only on Formula 1", the Austrian's thoughts
The world championship battle between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton, which entirely characterized the last season, according to Helmut Marko was certainly much more extreme than that between Niki Lauda and James Hunt brought to the cinematic spotlight by Tom Howard in the film Rush.
The Red Bull talent scout has in fact underlined how the rivalry between the Dutch and the English has reached important heights of tension, especially considering the differences between the 33 and the 44 who competed for the world championship until the last lap of Abu Dhabi.
"The 2021 Duel had more explosive force than Rush – Marko declared to the microphones of the ServusTV broadcaster – On the one hand there is a seven-time world champion, who leads a fairly media-focused life, and on the other there is Max who has his feet on the ground and focuses only on Formula 1. There are many points of contrast that come together. This applies not only to the riders but also to the two teams who faced this battle with words".
