F1 | Mario Andretti dreams big: "I would like Fernando Alonso in my team"
"He and Colton Herta would complement the team best," said "Piedone"
Mario Andretti doesn't fit. The 1978 world champion has not lost hope of entering Formula 1 in the next few years, although the Circus does not seem exactly as enthusiastic about welcoming him with open arms as it might seem or as expected. In fact, “Piedone” continues to talk, almost fantasizing, about what could even be the line-up of drivers who could be part of his team once he enters with a pair of single-seaters, mentioning an interesting name like that of Colton Herta, but that the most high-sounding is that of Fernando Alonso, two-time world champion.
“Yes, it is likely that I would go for Spanish – Andretti said on SoyMotor. His experience is incredible, it would be amazing to have him with us, so it's an option. I think he wants to continue racing, he's still in his prime and full of energy. Then, 99% of the time Colton Herta would also be with us, and he would definitely need someone very experienced alongside him. This would complete the team, and we are also discussing this: the main objective therefore is to have a rider with great experience alongside one with a lot of talent, and then we would like at least one American in the team."
