F1 | Liberty Media, Sean Bratches: “We want to make the races unique and unforgettable events”

Liberty Media, the American giant that took over the Formula One share package from Bernie Ecclestone last January, wants to make its first Stars and Stripes appointment in the Circus.

In fact, there will be several celebrities present over the weekend in Austin. Jamaican champion Usain Bolt will give the green light to the riders to start the classic pre-race training lap, while before the start of the GP the famous announcer Michael Buffer will announce each individual rider in a great event that will also involve Steve Wonder and the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders.

The well-known singer Justin Timberlake will instead perform on Saturday, which is why the qualifying session was postponed by two hours (starting at 23pm Italian time) compared to the usual times.

On the changes planned for the US Grand Prix, Sean Bratches – head of the commercial sector of Formula One – declared: “We continue to include new elements at each race, such as the innovative driver presentation format that will take place in Austin. The United States is, without a doubt, the country where sporting events are considered entertainment, beyond the purely sporting aspect. We want to do something that positions Formula 1 between sport and entertainment, thus becoming a unique event and an unforgettable experience".
