F1 | Leclerc: “Alonso deserves a renewal, but I won't follow his example”

F1 Leclerc – Interviewed by Sky Sport, Charles Leclerc commented on the recent renewal of Fernando Alonso with Aston Martin until at least the 2026 Formula 1 season, underlining how the Iberian, as shown in the last three years, deserves to keep his place within the starting grid.

Thanks to his talent, Alonso managed to show performances of the highest level, contributing optimally to the growth of the English team. A background that pushed the team led by Lawrence Stroll to reiterate their trust in him for the medium and long term, despite his identity card.

Leclerc, precisely in this sense, admitted that his career in Formula 1 is unlikely to last until the age of 43, like that of the Iberian for example, given that his intention - at least to date - is to also try his hand at other categories, such as endurance races and therefore the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Leclerc and the future in Formula 1

“Fernando is one of the most talented drivers on the grid and deserves his place in Formula 1, but there are also many other young people who deserve their place. It's not easy to find the right balance. At 43, I most likely won't be in Formula 1, even though I like this sport a lot. I want to try other categories, including Le Mans, a circuit and a way of racing that has always fascinated me."
