F1 | Lapo Elkann: “Gianni Agnelli loved Michael Schumacher very much”
"He liked Gilles Villeneuve. If he hadn't died, Senna would have come to Ferrari," said the lawyer's nephew
On January 24th, twenty years will have passed since the death of Gianni Agnelli, remembered by his nephew Lapo Elkann in an interview given to Walter Vetroni in the columns of Oggi. The brother of the current president of Ferrari discussed the passions that characterized the lawyer's life, which also included the Rossa.
Which he discussed in depth, underlining how his grandfather liked those winning drivers of the caliber of Michael Schumacher, but also Gilles Villeneuve who thrilled with his driving style. Without forgetting Ayrton Senna, about whom Lapo Elkann himself revealed a background story: he would have driven for Ferrari without the dramatic accident of May 1, 1994.
“His favorite driver was the one who won – declared Lapo Elkann – I think that's why he loved Michael Schumacher very much. Then he liked Gilles Villeneuve, his way of driving. And Ayrton Senna, who if he hadn't died in such a tragic way, would have come to Ferrari the following year."
