Between confirmations and redemptions, the teams leave Barcelona to start the new season

F1 | The hibernation has come to an end: starting tomorrow we will return to the track for pre-season tests

Finally the chatter that has accompanied this long and intense winter is about to give way to the track, with the first three days of pre-season testing starting tomorrow on the Catalan track of Montmeló. Despite the fact that the days of testing have been reduced (they went from 8 to 6, a solution that honestly is difficult to understand given that Formula One is the only sport where one cannot train regularly...) there is a lot waiting to understand the feedback - albeit marginal - that Barcelona will be able to give us.

Among those specially observed there will clearly be Ferrari, with the SF1000 called upon to improve the disappointing performance of the SF90. In Maranello they worked hard to try to fill those technical/aerodynamic gaps that unfortunately marked last season. In this sense, Montmeló is a complete and demanding track, whose slow and guided last sector (which caused the Rossa and its fans so much trouble...) will be able to tell us if the path taken by the Cavallino can be considered the right one.

The new Red Bull should also be monitored carefully, after the winter announcements made by Helmut Marko. At the presentation of the RB16 we have already glimpsed some interesting innovations such as the vents on the nose. Without forgetting Honda, called to confirm itself after a more than positive 2019 where, together with Red Bull, it achieved 3 victories signed by Max Verstappen who can't wait to be able to play his world championship chances against Lewis Hamilton's Mercedes. The Star and the English ace can only be the clear favorites to win both titles, also given the regulatory stability that will accompany 2020.

McLaren is also looking for confirmation, after the excellent fourth place finish obtained in the constructors' championship last year. The Woking team, step by step, has emerged from the technical crisis into which it had fallen in recent seasons, finally managing to occupy the noble positions in the rankings. The hope is that Williams too, if not immediately, can follow the same path, thus removing that annoying label of fallen noble. Alfa Romeo Racing is also among the teams looking for redemption, which will be able to count on the experience of Kimi Raikkonen and our Antonio Giovinazzi for the second year in a row.

The ingredients to witness a beautiful season are all there, all you have to do is wait for the next few hours to enjoy the appetizer. Hibernation is finally coming to an end.
