F1 | Horner tough on the new pit stop rule: "When you're competitive your rivals try to slow you down"

Starting from the Hungarian Grand Prix, which will take place on the Hungaroring track on August 1st, the rules on pit stops will change which will slow down the stop to try to avoid some dangerous situations such as those relating to failure to fix the tyres.

Red Bull team principal Chris Horner also expressed his point of view on this regulatory change, who bluntly admitted that it was a maneuver to slow them down given the competitiveness and reaction of the Anglo-Austrian team in the various changes tires.

"The technical directive is certainly very verbose and you almost have to wonder if it is a regulation change – admitted Horner, quoted by RaceFans – I suppose we were very competitive, we got the pit stop record, we had the most quickest stops and that's no coincidence. And I find it a little disappointing. It is the competitors' duty to ensure that the car is safe and to penalize if the wheels are not properly secured. I'm not entirely sure that the technical directive is trying to achieve this, because I think there is enormous complexity. Obviously when you're in a competitive situation, if you can't be beaten, the most logical thing is for your competitors to try to slow you down and that's obviously what's happening here".
