F1 | Haas, Nico Hulkenberg's disappointment

The American team currently occupies eighth position in the constructors' championship with eleven points, nine of these were achieved by Nico Hulkenberg who returned to racing after years of inactivity. The first part of the Haas season can be divided into two parts: qualifying and race. In qualifying, Haas is competitive and this is demonstrated by the times Hulkenberg managed to get through Q3. On Sunday, it's a completely different story: high tire wear and little speed.

Hulkenberg, interviewed by RacingNews365, spoke about his impressions before the summer break, not hiding his disappointment:

“Overall, I look at the positives. I think we haven't really missed any great opportunities. Every time there was a result available, we managed to get the points which are obviously not enough. We are not happy with how competitive we are in the race. So that's definitely the biggest problem and the biggest disappointment."

The German provided further insight into Haas' troubles this season:

“We didn't set the car up for qualifying or the race. We've done a setup for what we think is optimal. This feature is not so good. This is why we put too much stress on the tire on long runs. Furthermore, I think that in traffic we suffer more, probably more than other cars and this makes everything more difficult. In qualifying you always have new tires, which helps with the deficits we have and then we are competitive. But in long runs there are other problems."
