F1 | Haas, Romain Grosjean: “Let's hope for the element of surprise”

The Haas return to occupy the usual positions in qualifying, with Kevin Magnussen making the cut for Q2, but stopping in fifteenth position, while Romain Grosjean remains stationary in Q1, but will still start next to his teammate in sixteenth position. The Nurburgring circuit has reserved many surprises up to now, and the American team is hoping for the unusual also for tomorrow's race.

"The track was in excellent condition today, driving here is a pleasure. Obviously with our car we know that we have to push hard from the first meters if we want to have a chance of getting into Q2 – commented Grosjean, who stops one step away from Q2 – unfortunately, with the second set of tyres, I overdid it on the first attempt, while on the second there was traffic, so that's how it ended. It's a shame, but we will improve tomorrow. I think the element of surprise is the best we can hope for".

Kevin Magnussen also relies on the unknown, fifteenth.

"I think we got the best out of the car in qualifying. He seemed to perform well in Q1, but others found a few tenths of us. In the end, we made it back to Q2 again, stopping in fifteenth position, that's where we are and we will continue to work to improve. We will also try to do well tomorrow. This weekend has been strange, so I expect some good opportunities".
