F1 | Haas, Grosjean and Hulkenberg retired at Silverstone
Haas team drivers Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen were involved in an accident on the first lap of the GP
Haas team drivers Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen were involved in an accident on the first lap of the British GP, at Silverstone, and both retired shortly afterwards, marking a double zero for the team.
Grosjean started 14th while Magnussen 16th. Immediately after the start, the latter came alongside Grosjean on the right in a bend and the two touched: both cars suffered punctures and were forced to change tires immediately afterwards. Magnussen was called back to the pits after completing six laps while Grosjean nine laps, and both retired due to an accident.
Romain Grosjean commented: “I suffered the puncture on the right rear. After the pit stop the damage to the car, the floor and the brakes was too much to continue racing. Unfortunately we had to collect the car. It is a pity. Today we wanted to evaluate both packages on cars. My car performed very well on the grid, I was encouraged by those laps and was hoping for a good race."
Kevin Magnussen replied: “We have learned some things from this weekend thanks to the experiments we have done in recent days. Today we didn't achieve any results, but I hope this can serve as a lesson for the future,” he concluded.
