F1 | Grosjean happy with his comeback in the championship: "The important thing is how you get back up"

The 2018 Formula 1 championship has now been over for a month but Romain Grosjean returned to talk about the season and how he managed to recover, in the second part, the initial gap that was created towards his teammate Kevin Magnussen, effectively making an “excellent job”.

Grosjean failed to score points in any of the first eight races of the season, while Magnussen scored 27 points in the same period. Subsequently, however, Grosjean took fourth place – Haas' best result in F1 – in Austria and then finished in the top 10 in seven of the next 12 Grands Prix.

“This determined a lot of my first part of the season,” Grosjean told Autosport. “Then obviously there were the eight points from Monza that I lost: it's not one or two, it's a big chunk. So if you look at Germany so far, I think I've made a good recovery!”, declared the Frenchman. who then continued: “Yes, the gap is big, but initially it was even bigger, and I think I did a great job, you know, of being able to get back into the running.”

The Frenchman, who was much criticized especially by the media, for the accidents that marked the start of his season and the less than excellent performances, explained how the actual change took place "in my head, I just put things where they should have been."

“Of course, it was frustrating, it was annoying, it was difficult,” he said. “I have been criticized a lot. But I knew everything would work out. There were some mistakes, some bad luck, all of that together. Mistakes that I shouldn't have made considering my experience,” Grosjean continued, admitting the mistakes and showing great awareness of him. “But anyway, it's always the way you react that's important, the way you come back,” he concluded with great strength and determination.
